Whats The Cure For Recurring Rosacea Which Temporarily Subsides By Momate?
Hi, I am suffering from intermittent red patches on the face which has been diagonised as Rosacea for the past 3 years. I have been using ointment like Momate for the same. On application it subsides but recurs again in about a week to 10 days. Is there any way this can be permanently cured?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Momate is a mid potency steroid, which over long term use can itself cause steroid induced rosacea. Please stop Momate cream. There are well known triggering and exacerbating factors for rosacea which include sunlight, spicy foods, hot beverages, extreme emotions and alcohol. It is very important that you avoid all these triggering factors. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 and above every 4 hours even while indoors and even in cloudy weather. At bed time, you could use a gel containing Ornidazole on the rashes. If it is not coming under control with creams alone, you could benefit from oral doxycycline for 4-6 weeks. Oral isotretinoin is an option reserved for very severe cases. This has to be taken only under the supervision of a dermatologist. Hope these guidelines help you. Take care.
