Does Medication Taken After A Stroke Lead To Skin Problems And Scabs?

What type of skin problem does this cream help? My husband had a stroke and I believe the reaction on his arm is a result of on of the medications they put on it. I believe he may have scratched it. It formed a scab and I just wanted to know how to handle it. Thank you in advance... Respectfully, Spouse.

Hi,

It is possible for medication taken after a stroke to cause skin problems, although it depends on the specific medication being used. Some medications can cause allergic reactions, which can result in skin rashes, hives, or itching. Additionally, some medications can cause dry skin, which can lead to cracking and scabbing.

Without more information about the medication your husband is taking and the specific reaction he is experiencing, it is difficult to say for sure what is causing the skin problem. It is always best to consult with a healthcare provider for advice on how to handle any new or concerning symptoms.

Regarding the cream you mentioned, I'm sorry but I cannot answer that question as there is no information provided about the cream in question. It would be best to ask the healthcare provider who prescribed the cream or a pharmacist for more information.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
