My son (8 1/2 years old) has a sore throat, and said his left ear hurt/felt weird when he swallowed. I looked in the back of this throat and there is some redness and a red vein looking thing on the left side on the back of his throat and somewhat on the ride side. He has no fever, but did complain before dinner of a tummy ache. We had him gargle water and spit. there appears to be small white spots (which I thought could be food build up) but were still there after gargling. What should I be concerned with? look for? (with school just starting back, I am concerned about strep throat) also, he is a pretty healthy child and rarely ever gets sick.

I have been feeling sick for about three days - a severe sore throat (it kind of hurts to swallow), ocassional headache, and a fever (my whole body is very warm). I ve been drinking a lot of water, resting a lot, and gaining more of an appetite over the last few days. But it is hard for me to go to sleep and get a restful night of sleep. In the past couple days I have been waking up about every hour and when morning comes I feel really crummy. I think this episode of illness may be stress related. What should I do?
