What Treatment Is Suggested For Hysterectomy ?

I have had a hysterectomy about 10 yrs ago..i am 61 yrs old..i had only a partial one..i have been having problems w/ lo thyroid issues and were put on synthoids med..i was always feeling tired, depressed and run down..my synthroid med. was increased to higher level but I still feel very tired, depressed and run down..could it be because of my hormones that has been depleted because of the hysterectomy or menopause..what can I do to feel better.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Sometimes after hysterectomy ovaries are retained.
In that case they will produce hormones for few years.
Then their function will decrease due to lack of end organ support.
This period can vary from person to person.
After that the woman may start experiencing menopausal symptoms.
So, along with hypothyroidism, hormonal imbalance may be one cause for your problem.
So, with your doctor's advice you can take hormonal replacement therapy with lowest possible dose of hormones.
You can prefer phytoestogens.
Taking calcium supplementation is important along with these.
Take care.
