What Treatment Is Suggested For Trichomoniasis?

I've just been diagnoded with Trichomoniasis. Can you get this any other way that sexually transmitted? I have had these aymptoms for the last three years and my doctor has been treating me for a yeast infection which never cleared it up. I finally went to a OBGYN andd they did a special test and found this. Can a simple infection go so long undetected turn into this?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Trichomonas Vaginalis infection can be identified by a laboratory technician who have enough experience in STD labs. Otherwise it would be difficult to diagnose in wet smears of vaginal discharge. It is an essentially a STD, and rarely transmitted through fomites (wet towels) and toilette seats. Tablet Metranidazole is the drug of choice in different dosage schedules. Sex Partners also to be treated simultaneously.
Your physician will guide you better.
