What Treatment Is Suggested For 2+ Protein In Urine?

My son had his annual physical this past week and the family practitioner mentioned that he had 2+ protein in his urine. He had worked out the day prior to the physical. He also has periodic episodes of gout. He is 14. Is there reason to be concerned?

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Some time protein is also present in urine in patient of the gout.
Gout is associated with the chronic kidney disease and cause damage to glomerulus membrane and protein in urine.
Other causes are: chronic diabetes and hypertension, severe dehydration, UTI.
So you also go for blood sugar estimation, health check up, USG scan to confirm the cause.
Angiotensin blocker like losartan will help to reduce the protein.
Also take the proper treatment of the gout under the advise of the your treating physician.
Hope this may help you
