What Treatment Is Recommended For This Urea And Creatinine Level In The Elderly?

Hi,My Fathers UREA is 141mg/dL and Creatinine is 1.56.He has diabitis and heart disease and he's taking medications like Fusid and Aldactone. He's about 90 years old. Should I reduce the amount of other medications like Aspirin, to like 3 times a week? Or reduce Atrovastatine? or Glukomine? He also takes Plavix and 1.25mg Tritace.<What treatment should he get with these results? Thanks,Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The values of urea and creatinine what you have mentioned of your father is indicating to be high.
This means that he is having kidney dysfunction. Since he is diabetic, it would require a specialist to review the situation.
Kindly consult Urologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Urea levels with 141mg/dl and creatinine with 1.56mg/dl is indicative of renal dysfunction.
Since your father is diabetic, control of blood glucose levels is also of prime importance along with treatment of renal dysfunction.
Kindly consult Diabetologist and Nephrologist for complete clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
