What To Do If Having Bronchial Infection And Blocked Nose At 38 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
I have had a bronchial infection for almost 5 weeks and have now developed a very blocked nose. I have phlegm from my chest and most, o am on my fourth course of antibiotics, along with antihistamines and now steroid tablets with a nasal spray. Not helping much and I a currently just over 38 weeks pregnant. I am desperate for advice. I don t know how much longer I can cope and am scared about the birth and not being able to breath. Please advise
If you have already taken four courses of antibiotics, there no point in taking further antibiotics randomly and empirically. Please get your sputum tested for culture and sensitivity. This test will identify the organisms and will reveal to which antibiotics they are sensitive. Accordingly, the antibiotics may be planned. This will help releasing the blocked nose also. Please try steam inhalations for your blocked nose. This will also help to liquefy the mucous in the chest and bring it out easily. Any antibiotics prescribed should be taken only after they are okayed by obstetrician. Please do not take tetracyclines. They chelate the calcium in the foetus and stain the teeth of the baby yellow. It may affect the bones of the baby also.
