What To Do For The Ear Infection And Sinusitis?
I have been taking Protonix for 1 month since diagnosed with GERD. I saw my doctor and hep rescribed Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for a double ear infection and sinusitis ( head pressure for a week ) my doctor also told me to take Ibuprofen for the pain. Should I not use the ibuprofen and use Tylenol instead. He said ibuprofen would help the swelling but I am worried about the reflux symptoms. I have a sour taste in my mouth still and feel like I have phlegm with post nasal drip. I have an ENT appointment in 4 days but am so tired of being sick. I am 26 and weigh 260lbs. Would you suggest doubling the Protonix to decrease the GERD symptoms while on the Doxycycline ? He also called in Levaquin just in case I want to stop the doxycycline. ( FYI. I am very anxious about drugs and their side effects. I usually don t take anything more than Tylenol ).

Hi... i understand your issue. I see many patients like this in my clinic.
1) your first issue is GERD, using omeprazole, its dose is 20mg twice or 40mg once a day, i think brufen will not cause recuurence of symtoms dont worry. More important for you is LIFE STYLE MODIFICATION.
avoid late night meal,coffee,choclate,spicy..sleep in propped up bed,quit smocking if u are doing.
2) your next issue is Sinusitis and post nasal drip, if i was your doctor,i would confirm the diagnosis by by an XRAY PARANASAL SINUS
Than i would suggest empirical moxifloxacin,azithromycin or cefadroxil,along with antihistamin and tincture benzoin steam inhalation.
As these are prescription drugs,consult with
