What To Do For Fluid In The Lung After The Operation?

My father, 63 got right lung operation in January 12th 2010 from PGI Chandigarh (India). It gives pain badly even after operation. while he is taking all the precautions like taking juices, meal on time, no work, little walk, spirometer every after 45 minutes and chating very less. doctors said there is a fluid or like a water becoming in the lung. what should we do? please suggest me. Thanks
