Hi, 45 year old female, no pregnancies, no children. Irregular menses. US pelvis and transvaginal was done. Findings: The endometrium appears heterogeneous and measure 7mm in maximum thickness. A 1.2 x 0.7 x 0.9 cm echogenic focus is identified within the endometrial stripe. Impression: Echogenic focus within the endometrial stripe suspicious for a polyp. What exactly is this?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

An echogenic focus in the endometrial layer can be due to a polyp in the endometrium. This is a benign harmless swelling and may be associated with excessive bleeding during periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rakhi Tayal,
OBGYN
