What To Do For Burning, Sore And Swollen Vagina After Intercourse?

HI I am 56 years old and when I have intercourse my vagina straight away feels like it is burning and gets sore. It then swells up and for at least a week after is swollen, sore and dry. Also at the bottom of my opening (near to my bottom) the skin splits and bleeds. I started to get mild problems a few years ago and have been using ovestin cream and now changed to a suppositories. The doctors did all tests for any infection etc but found none. I have had the herpes virus for about 4 years. I asked to see a gynacolagist but was refused, as the last doctor I saw examined me and said my vagina looked fine for a woman my age. Please help me I don t know what to do I am so depressed about this I feel they think I should just put up with it

I am.sorry your medical system and doctors have treated you this way, I would not tolerate such behaviour in my medical practice.

As for your presentation, unfortunately a physical examination is mandatory. Treatment will have to be followed and applied based on the diagnosis. Were you treated for your herpes in the past? If not, then this will have to be done.

For now, avoid rough intercourse and also try to use as much lubricant as possible to avoid friction and further irritation of your genitals.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Your problem appears to be due to dryness, which is common at your age. The simplest remedy is to apply any lubricant (liquid paraffin OR any other oil OR glycerine) before & after sexual intercourse. If skin develops cracks, you can continue applying moisturizing lotion, it will help you a lot.
