What Symptoms Indicate The Presence Of Thyroid Disorder?

My mother has had a thyroid problem since she was in her twentys plus takes medications .I have heard it is very hereditary I have had some symptoms showing signs of thyroid issues . Have had blood test to see if it could be a problem, blood test comes up negative but have heard it s hard to detect this with certain blood test. What blood test would you recommend ???
