What Should The Alkaline Phosphatase Level In A Child Be?

My nine year old son has not been feeling well for the past month. He has no energy and is pail. He had blood tests done and although many were slightly off it wasn t anything that suggested treatment or illness. One of the tests was for alkaline phosphatase. His was 160. Is this normal for a child?

Hi... Alkaline phosphatase of 160 is very much normal for a 9 year old do not worry about it.

You said, he has no energy and is pale. This signifies that there could be anaemia. I suggest you work him up for iron deficiency anaemia or any other nutritional anaemia.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
