What Should Be The Age To Have Type One Diabetes?

My husband was two weeks off his 31st birthday when he discovered he was diabetic (type 1). How unusual is this as everything I ve read says it is childhood onset. Pumpkin yes all the males in my husbands family are type 1 diabetic, we thought he had missed it. Hope research continues as we have a 8 yr old son.

It can occur at any age and need not be congenital only. Hence it is not unusual. It does have a genetic origin. Hence the chances of your son getting the same is always there.
