What Should Be Done For Child With Cough And Vomiting?

Hi, my baby is 2 years 2 months old. her weight is 12 kgs. She has just recovered from cold, fever. But still suffering from cough. At night she is coughing hard and throwing up all food. I had given her Mefanorm for fever and still giving her 5 ml Phenergan 3 times a day, Ambrolite syrup 5ml 3 times a day. Kindly advise if any changes need to be there. Thanks.

Hi. It is good that the baby recovered from cold and fever. She is getting increased cough at night because the nasal secretion drip down the throat. It is common in children to have vomiting with violent cough as the sphincter guarding the oesophagus from stomach is weak in childhood. Adding a pediatric nasal drops 2 to 3 drops thrice daily and particularly before bed-time and steam inhalations will help her. Continue the medicines as before. I hope you have shown baby to the Pediatrician.
