What Should I Do For Severe Headache As I Hit The Wall?

I hit my head hard against a wall two nights ago. It throbs constantly, feels kind of blown up inside, gives me headaches, and my neck is sore but I'm guessing that's from the impact. If you have any insights as to why my head still hurts like this it would be very appreciated.

Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms are quite normal after a head concussion.

I would recommend having some rest for some days and taking painkillers (acetaminophen or ibuprofen). It is very important avoid another head trauma in the next weeks.

If your symptoms do not improve, or even worsen, I would recommend going to the ER for a brain CT scan to exclude possible delayed intracranial bleeding (like subdural hemorrhage).

Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
