What Should I Do For Cramps In Back, Calf And Legs?
I. am diabetic and have degenerative atharitis in my back. Several months ago I started having pain in the back of both legs particularly on the left and when standing or going up stairs. It is getting more uncomfortable and I am now seeing a chiropractor. My L5 in the spine has problems in my back. Today I have a severe leg cramp in the back of my left leg and my calf greatly swelled. What could be happening?
The pain in your back is most probably due to spinal canal stenosis and the pain in legs is due to the neurogenic claudication (pain) being referred down due to compression on the nerves .
Secondly it may be caused by a prolapsed disc. In either case get an MRI done snt consult a neurosurgeon.
The swollen calf could be either due to DVT (deep vein thrombosis) or due to muscke involvement in arthritis .the former is more likely as you are diabetic .
Kindly get a colour doppler test done and a complete arthritis panel .
In the meantime take rest , apply ice packs , take a good anti inflammatory like diclofenac .
I hope my advice has helped Good. Luck .
