Hello Rahul,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic. You should continue with the gym routine and concentrate on free weight exercises (which do not require machinery) that target your large muscle groups. The best weight training exercises for building muscle mass are free weight exercises like squats, dead lifts, bench presses, barbell rows, pull ups and bar dips. You may be having a high metabolic rate, so you need short intense workouts instead of long periods of low-stress activity.

Regarding the diet, eat larger portions and eat at least five meals a day and it should include a balance of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. You can chalk out a diet chart with your gym trainer or a dietician.
Hope it helps you. Regards.

Hi there Dr. I have just turned 49yrs this year. I noticed with middle age I started packing on extra weight gain after 35yrs? Before that I was always slender and ate what ever I wanted. This year due to aging I noticed small things are bothering me such as 1. My vision has decreased, I used to have 20/20, now I cant see distances and I am night blind, so I don t like to drive at night or be out too late. 2. My weight gain has made my ankles swell more? I went to the Doctor twice to alleviate the water, and had all kinds of lab work done. All my labs came back normal? But my blood pressure was slightly low. But the ankles keep swelling up? My mom said it is due to food allergies and mainly salt intake? But when I was younger I ate all kinds of salty foods and never had any problems and I wore very high heels dancing etc. What is the cause of this? I am embarrassed to go out, its painful to wear high heels, its not normal for my body! It is bothersome to me because of my weight gain up to 2x! Yikes so I started taking diet pills and have lost about 4-5lbs. My Doctor put me on a drug called Furosemide and Spironolactone and I tried Laxis all water deluters, none of them seem to work on me? I have tried walking daily, it didn t help. I tried cutting all salt, wheat, sugar, butter, transfats, and processed foods out. I went to a pure food diet that came with the diet pills. It seems to be working similar to the Scarsdale diet (the only diet I have tried that really worked and kept the weight off.) Doctor I am so uncomfortable with this problem and its causing me a lot of pain. My mom also said I have falling arches and to try rubbing things under my arches. Is this caused by the weight gain? I don t understand it because since 35yrs I have been plus sized, but lately I have been ballooning? Even though I have made these diet changes, and I am trying to shed the pounds. I feel my body is always swollen up? Doctor what is wrong with me, what should I do? Daunte

Hi, My name is Vicka, I am 19. My height is 155cm, and my weight is 62kg. I used to eat only healthy food and was always 45 kg, but then doctors said me that I had to gain some weight, because I looked too skinny for them, but I felt good.A nd I started gaining weight very fast in 2 months I already was 55 and then 62.I started eating everything and after each meal I feel myself guilty and miserable because I know I shouldn t do that. I feel bad myself, my appearence is awful now and I can t start my previous lifestyle, I m always failing when I start to eat again healthy and this has been countinuing since last year. I m in despair, and doctors don t know what to do with me. And I can t tell anyone why I can t lose my weight I always come up with some stories, but not truth, because it s a shame for me to tell anyone that I fat because I can t stop eating, people always think that I eat only health food. And I just say them that I gained weight because of special pills and that I ll soon lose everything when I stop drinking them. I just need a piece of advice how to struggle with it, I really want my 45 kg back

I am having acute right upper quadrant pain. It woke me up about an hour and a half ago. I am trying to decide if I need to go to the ER or not. I had gastric banding in July of this year but have never had any problems. Feel just slightly queasy.

Hello, I am 40, male, non-smoker, 6ft tall and weighing 194lbs. I ve been losing weight for the past 5 months. In March I went to my cardiologist to have my heart checked. Since then I am on Lisinopril 20mg to control my bloodpressure. All the tests were fine. At the time of my doctors visit I was weighing 230lbs. So I dropped around 36 pounds in 5 months. Is that normal? Also, it doesn t stop. I keep losing weight. I changed my diet a little bit, but nothing radical though. Less soft drinks and deep fried food, other than that I have decent lunch and dinner. I don t have any pain or loss of appetite. My bowel movement is normal and stool color is light-brown to brown. Could Lisinopril be the cause of my weight loss? Also, I have anxiety and get very nervous with the slidest pain. Could anxiety also be a cause? Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome. Many thanks Michael

I am 74 y/o male who's been losing weight over the past 3 months. Total weight loss has been 3 kilos for 3 months. I have been constipated and my bowel movements have been irregular but my appetite has never changed and I still eat pretty well. I don't have any abdominal complaints. What could be causing this? I also eat fiber-rich foods but to no avail, I'm still constipated.
