What Should I Do About A Positive ANA Test Result While Having IBS, Dizziness, Loss Of Appetite And Confusion?

I have had IBS, dissyness, loss of appetite And a weird random rash for two years. Loss 40 pounds in two months with no effort and and just turned 44. Went to specialist after hospital trip for dissyness and confusion and positive ana test. Primary wanted to rule out lupus. Went to specialist and literally 2 minutes was sent out door with there s no way you could have lupus because your too old. Shook my hand said good luck and tht was tht. Should I see another doc or move on? Thanks for any help or advise.

Hi,

In your case, given your history of IBS, dizziness, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, and a positive ANA test, it's important to continue seeking medical attention. While lupus is less common in older individuals, it is still possible and should not be ruled out solely based on age.

There are also many other autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that can cause similar symptoms, so it's important to get a proper diagnosis. I would recommend seeking a second opinion from a different specialist or rheumatologist who can review your medical history and perform a thorough physical examination, as well as additional tests if necessary.

Be sure to bring any previous medical records and test results with you to your appointment. In the meantime, keep track of your symptoms and any triggers that may make them worse. Maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and getting regular exercise and sleep can also help alleviate some symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

In addition to lupus, there are many other conditions that could be causing your symptoms, so it's important to have a thorough evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional. You may want to consider seeing a rheumatologist, who specializes in autoimmune diseases like lupus, or a gastroenterologist, who can help diagnose and treat gastrointestinal issues such as IBS.

It's also important to keep track of your symptoms and any changes in your health, as well as any medications or supplements you are taking. This information can be helpful in getting an accurate diagnosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
