What Prognosis Is Recommended For Difficulty While Walking Post Cervical Laminectomy?

My brother is in emergency surgery as we speak. Cervical laminectomy and a lumbar procedure to decompress nerves. He is virtually paralyzed and waited too long to go to hospital. He couldn t walk or stand up. What do you think the prognosis is after this surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Prognosis is not that much good.

Most probably there may be cord involvement and thus prognosis is bad. He can go for physiotherapy and proper therapy can help to an extent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
