Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... My son who is now 7 fell very badly onto a step when he was 1. He was running and took the ful impact on the lower part of his forehead which was cut and swollen but didn't require stitches. AE took a look at him and sent us home. 6 years on I still worry daily about any damage that may have been caused to his brain and still wonder whether there is damage we can't see. Would any blood clots have gone. I guess I live in fear of anything reappearing from an old injury and not being a medic I don't know. He has speech and language problems and I don't know to this day whether it was due to that awful fall. Deborah
I can understand your worry. Your son got head injury 6 years back. If any clot or damage occurred at that time, that had resolved in next 6 months. The recovery process occurs for 12-18 months after injury. So in your son, maximum recovery would have occurred till 2.5 years age. You should not worry at all about presence of any clot/swelling. If he is performing good in sports/studies and other activities, it is less likely that he had got any brain injury at that time.
Regarding his speech and language problem, it can be said precisely that it is due to head injury. These problems can be due to
: Oral cavity or tongue problem : Laryngeal disease : Nerve damage
