What Precautions Should Be Taken For Conception When Suffering From Hyperthyroidism?

iam 30 year ol female suffering from hyperthyrodism now in euthyroid stage. i had abortion 2year back due to anovular gestation.now iam taking 200mg of propylthiouracil and folinext-d for conception .what another precaution i hv to take for conception.

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
In order to get pregnant the thyroid hormonal level must be within the normal ranges.
So you must check TSH,FT4 and FT3 and you can try to conceive only after a normal result.
If the cause of hyperthyroidism is Graves' disease you have to keep under control the level of the Anti TSh receptor antibodies because they may cross the placenta and cause hyperthyroidism at the baby.
Once you get pregnant you have to check very month TSH,FT4 and FT3 level and the above mentioned antibodies.

Propil tiuracil is recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy, than may be switched to metimazole.
