What Medicines Should Be Taken For Chronic Severe Insomnia?

i ve had serum creatine since 1990. (also have sleep apnea , restless legs syndrome & delayed sleep phase syndrome); cpap does not help me. ambien, lunesta, xyrem, etc is counterproductive in the long-term for me. i m tired of going to conventional m.ds who have failed to help me. what is a name of an alternative m.d. or professional who i can go to anywhere in north america, who has had very good success in treating chronic insomnia?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi dear,
Thank you for your query.
First of all chronic insomnia is mostly associated with any other psychiatric or physical condition.
so first of all we need to rule out the particular problem which is responsible for insomnia.
for chronic insomnia you need to do both pharmacological and psychological treatments.
for pharmacological treatment there are many medicine available like benzodiazepins, sleep cycle regulatory medicine etc.. but for that you need to consult local psychiatrist.
for non pharmacological treatment include sleep hygiene.

Thank you
