hi am 15 year old and im having problems sleeping i think it is caused because when i go to bed all my problems are going through my mind is there anything i can do am 15 year old female with quite a bit of family problems which is preventing me from sleeping.
Carrying your troubles to bed will not help you sleep what you can do is an hour before bedtime just write down the problems your having and the possilbe solution so that you dont think over in bed.People have little control over their thoughts due to which they might be going in and out of light sleep which feels like their awake all time.Fix a time for bed, reguler bedtimes and waking hours sets your sleep cycle.Switch of lights, donot watch tv or use laptop prior to sleeping. If your in habit of exercising do it during the daytime. If nothing helps talk to a counseller regarding your problems.

I have a question but do not know what kind of doctor you are, I need to talk to a psychiatrist, this question is for them I suffer from Depression and having a hard time right now with school work, I have no motivation at all, keep putting things off, not eating, sleeping too much, feeling really really low. This is something that I have been living with since young age. I have been hospitalized over 25 times since age 17 and I am not 40 yrs old. I am scared that I am heading to hospital soon, I do not want to go back there but I wonder if it may help me to get a break from school and other things. I do not know what to do. All I want to do is sleep and escape. This is not good, I know that I am depressed, anything I do to try to help myself such as talking to others, going for walks, going to school, hanging around people during the day, I just do not know what to do anymore, I think I need to see my family doctor, just need some advice. I do have people in my life professionals to talk too but just need to know what someone else would tell me. Sorry if this is not the right doctor to ask for advice. i know what to do if this gets worse like go to the hospital i do know what i am supposed to do if things get worse just need some advice right now to figure out what i should do.

I am a 62 year old male who is in good health for my age. I retired from my 40 yr career in banking 30 months ago and am enjoying my retirement very much. My only problem is that ,for the last three and a half years I am unable to have a decent nights sleep I.e. No matter what time I go to bed I will wake up almost exactly two hours later . I don t have a problem going to sleep, just staying asleep.i have tried everything , reading/not reading,eating/not eating, going to bed early/ late etc;I was prescribed sleeping tablets by my doctor and two months later reluctantly started to take them.i took a tablet on two consecutive nights but the only thing that changed was that, next day they left me groggy! So I stopped taking them immediately.can you suggest anything that might help me get ,say six uninterrupted hours sleep at nighttime ?

Does the rocking of a ship increase insomnia in those who have recently had a stroke and exhibit an increased startle reaction? I recently shared a cabin with a stroke victim who claimed she could not sleep all night. What I noticed is that repeatedly in the middle of the night she would suddenly and violently wake up without cause and think I was making noise. She also the week before the trip underwent an invasive procedure endoscopicly to see if she needed a stint placed in her artery. Could she be reacting to that, too? She claimed she slept better once we were in a hotel on land and I got my own cabin. Others in my family report that I am a quiet sleeper, so I believe I am not the cause of her insomnia which has plagued her all her life. A very light sleeper, or is something more serious going on that her doctor needs to know about? Thanks for your answer in advance. Nina Daniel
