What Medical Tests Should Be Done For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Accompanied By Lower Backache?

Hi, I am a 51 year old female experiencing premenopausal symptoms like unusually heavy menstruation, migraine and hot flushes for about four years now. I m married, with three children. Last year, I started having frequent constipation, and for remedy I turned to drinking tea (Biofit) as a laxative. I often feel bloated, and my stool often looks thin (around half an inch) and long. I have persistent lower back pain. I also feel shooting pain in my abdomen and pelvic area; it s becoming more frequent. What kind of tests should I undergo? Do I show symptoms of cancer? Thank you, Doctor.

Hello,

As the first line of management, you can take drugs like Tranexemic acid to control bleeding. If bleeding persists, it is better to consult a gynaecologist and plan for an ultrasound scan.

We have to rule out possible causes like endometrial proliferation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
