What Is This New Cyst In The Pelvic Ultrasound?

I have a question for you, about a pelvic u/s I had this Tuesday. I picked up my results today and I m very nervous, especially since my Dr. s office is closed. I ve been having horrible pain radiating up my left side, starting in pelvic region. My results state the following ...1) Mildly enlarged retro flex uterus with no myometrial mass identified. Endometrial stripe thickened, measuring 1.6 cm 2) 1.3 x 2.1 cm complex left ovarian cyst, most likely hemmorhagic. This is a different cyst than described on the prior study on 5/12/14. How should I interpret this? Thank you!

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Your report says the following

1. The uterus is slightly larger than normal and bent backwards (retroverted).

2. The endometrium or central portion of uterus measures 16 mm and is at upper limits of normal.

3. There is a 1.3 x 2.1 cm cyst in the left ovary which is showing internal complex features and said to be a hemorrhagic cyst. This is most likely causing your pain along the left side. This will resolve by itself in few days. These cysts occasionally are seen and when there is little bleeding in to them it causes pain and discomfort lasting few days.
