What Is The Use Of Premix Insulin For Type 1 Diabetes?
hi I am type1 diab for last one yr and doctor has started premix insuline with 20 and 15 IU before meal. I am male with 30yr age, wt-45 kg hgt-5.5 feet. my glucosel lever (PP) 290. I would like to know role of pre mix insuline in type 1, should i take alone regular insulin alone or along with intermidiate insuline. Pls advice Pramod kumar UP

Dear Pramod, hi! premix insulin in t1dm, or t2dm has the same role ie it prevents the number of pricks. ideally you should be on 4 pricks, regular insulin for meals and basal insulin for night but to make the patient compliant and reduce the no. of pricks, doctors do give twice premix. it compromises the control. but at your age you can adjust to premix. for further management you can let me know your detailed daily sugar profile. regards!
