Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

Pneumonitis means inflammation/infection of the lungs. If I were your doctor, I would consider it due not only to your tonsillitis, but the infection possibly spread to your lower respiratory tract also. I would send your sputum for a culture and sensitivity test, and start a broad spectrum antibiotic which might have to be changed depending on the sensitivity report. I would also advise you for regular steam inhalation two to three times a day, nebulisation if need be depending on the physical findings in your lungs, and would add an expectorant in your treatment.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
