What is the treatment for thyroid cyst?

i've been detected with thyroid cysts with bleeding. Dr. did biopsy and removed blood and accumulated fluid, and have sent it to pathology dept. He suggested that it seems benign but since there are multiple nodules he would recommend to get the half of thyroid removed.
Question: if i do not get my thyroid with multiple benign cysts removed, how would it affect me?

Hi,
If you are not planning to get it operated
1. It may grow later and that time it has to be removed as it can cause problems in swallowing and breathing
2. It may turn to malignant (cancer) in 5% of cases

If you are not planning to get it removed, nothing will happen immediately. You should get yourself rechecked every 6-12 months period with ultrasound neck and needle test(FNAC).
