What Is The Treatment For Throat And Upper Stomach Pain?

My mom has an endoscopy this past week and she has been having severe pain from upper stomach up to her throat. She can hardly breath, eat and drink. She has been nauseated and even vomitted. It also hurts worse when she eats, drinks, and breaths. When she swallows food it feels like the food gets stuck right there at the sternum. Please help. What has gone wrong in the procedure? What should I do? What will I give her to ease her pain?

Hello,

Since the painful swallowing and such symptoms have started after endoscopy, there might have been esophagitis to start with that got increased or might have some mechanical trauma but this is unlikely to continue the symptoms beyond 7 days.

Hence I would advise you the following:
-Please post the reports of the Endoscopy.
-Go for blood tests for sugar and so.
-X-ray of the chest to see any positive findings.
-Give Mucaine gel or such antacid that contains Lignocaine or any local also called as topical anesthetic.
-PPI like Omeprazole or as would be advised.
-Consult your Doctor who performed the Endoscopy so that review can be done with certainty. Liquid diet only.
-If there is associated diabetes or fungal growth then she certainly needs the medical management as per the disease to get appropriate results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
