What Is The Treatment For Swollen Throat?

the osoficus( I cannoy spell it) the thing that dangles at the back of my throut, I woke up this morning and it is very swollen, what can this be? my wife said I did snore very loud last night but I have never had this and it it difficult to swollow, any advise?
