What Is The Treatment For Swollen And Painful Feet?

Recently my feet (both of them) have experienced sudden swelling. It ll either be the balls of the foot or the heel or the arch. (???) It feels like a stinging feeling and then it gets large and puffy. I have started walking and/or riding my bike (up & down steep hills) since I lost car. Could this have something to do with it? Baffled. And it may come on suddenly w/o warning. Advice? I m 57 and in great shape. Antoinette

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Swelling can be due to plantar fascitis.

Start plantar exercises consulting physiotherapist also Physiotherapy like TENS and ultrasound will help.
Take calcium supplement with vit D.

If no relief with this line of treatment then local injection shot can give pain relief for longer duration.
Systemic cause of swelling needs to be ruled out by blood investigation.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
