What Is The Treatment For Swelling After A Sprained Ankle With Fluid Accumulation While On Ibuprofen?

Hi, i rolled my ankle a week ago, i did follow the RICE guidelines, probably didn t ice as much as i could have, haven t been to doctors, can bear full weight, but balancing is difficult, i have yellow swelling, when i stand for too long my toes get hard to move, i do have fluid in my foot, and little to no pain, the most painful part is when i first start walking from lying down and having i elevated, i have been taking ibuprofen and using a chemist brought bandage one that you wrap around and is made of cloth, just need to know what you think. Thank you

Hello dear,

The swelling in ankle is due to accumulation of fluid or blood (hematoma).
The blood cells accumulated are eventually broken down and absorbed in the body.
But this is a slow process & takes times to disappear completely.
Till that time, symptomatic relief is obtained by taking analgesics like Diclofenac+ Serratiopeptidase preparations, ice compression & adequate rest.

If it still persists, then it will be better to get an X ray of the ankle joint done to rule out any damage to the bones or ligaments.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
