What Is The Treatment For Sudden Flinching And Seizures?

My husband is 42 years old. We attended a show on Friday 1/23/15 called Marvel Universe Live with bright and sometimes flashing lights and while driving home he had what appeared to be a seizure. The family was laughing and joking then suddenly he tensed, fliched, his head thrashed and he swerved. It was extremely frightening. When it was over he appeared dazed and confused. I urged him to go immediately to the er but he refrained. I m a certified Texas teacher not currently teaching, but have observed seizures firsthand in my classroom having an epileptic student. My middle son also had meningitis and encephalitis at 23 months with extreme high fevers and had seizures during the week and a half of running the fever as a result. He has since recovered. We enjoy fireworks and have very often seen live shows and this has never caused him problems, could it have been that the lights in the show were different than this type of stimuli? My husband holds a cdl and works in the oilfield working long shifts and erratic hours 6 days on and three off. So he is often quite sleep deprived. Could you give the best course of action for him to take and are there any specific questions or tests we should ask the doctor to perform. Thank you so much for your time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems your husband had an episode of generalised tonic-clonic seizure.

To find out the proper cause,he has to get a CT scan of the brain,EEG and his complete blood count and serum electrolytes tested.
He needs to get proper sleep, and its advisable for him not to drive under such circumstances.

Meanwhile, a new generation benzodiazepine like clonazepam would be helpful .

Get the tests done and kindly review with your neurologist.
