I've had staph infection that has been on and off for 8 months. Right now it has been hanging around for about a month. Now I am also getting a petechiae rash that is spreading all over. I am 54 yrs old, female otherwise in good health. I'm 5'6", 180lbs. Have osteoarthritis in both shoulders. Work f/t as a teacher. Have been having problems with ptsd and major depression.
Staph infection is treated with Staph sensitive antibiotics. What is needed is an antibiogram which will identify the antibiotics for which the Staph is sensitive to. This is the only accurate way of treating it. Moreover, you need to be screen for diabetes and other illnesses that can predispose to recurrent infections.
Hope this helps Dr Achuo
