What Is The Treatment For Stabbing Pain In The Chest?

Sharp stabbing pain in left side of chest, originally believed to be muscle or lung related. But suffered from severe gastritis this year and in the last week (same time as sharp pain) has re-occured (burning sensation, horrible taste in back of throat, churning stomach). Dark stools. I've been to the doctor and she prodded my belly and side and used the stethoscope to check my breathing and said everything was fine but did not think to mention the gastritis. is it possible that the pain in my side is due to the ulcer? It is not constant, it occurs all of a sudden, lasts anything between 5-15 seconds but has become more frequent over the last week and today has been accompanied by pain in the left side of back in same area. What should I do? I've been very ill the last year with suspected UTI symptoms but tests concluded it wasn't UTI, gastritis, chicken pox, missed periods etc and am unsure what to do.
