What Is The Treatment For Sores On Head?

My husband has what I guess you would call sores that come up on his head. They start out just being red spots and then turn to what looks kind of like blisters. Eventually, they will bust and bleed and then dry up. He generally has several in different areas on his head and you never know when or where one will appear. He has asked his dermatologist, but did not get any answers. There is never a time that he does not have one or more of these, sometimes 5 or 6 in various places. Sometimes they will cluster and he will have a large area. We would like to know what to do to hopefully get rid of this problem.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain sores over the head or scalp that are bright red and burst into blisters that bleed and dry up can be due to causes like :
-Hair follicle infection or Folliculitis.
-Impetigo.
-Allergic reaction to certain hair cosmetics, shampoos, soaps etc..

As it is a recurring condition you need a proper examination and investigations to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treated accordingly..
You should consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scraping from the scalp, blood tests etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to apply a combination of antibiotic ointment over the scalp..
You can apply steroid lotion ..
Avoid scratching the scalp to prevent infection..
In case if itching is severe you can take antihistamine like Levocetrizine, Benadryl etc..
Wash the scalp every alternate day with a mild shampoo..
Avoid using harsh chemical shampoos, hair cosmetics like gels etc to avoid flareups if it is due to allergic reaction..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
