What Is The Treatment For Sleep Walking In A Teenager?

My name is Telesia a grandmother of Tiffany who sleeps walking and I am concerned and wanting your advice. I would like her to see a doctor and perhaps treatment. Tiffany is now 18 years old and it is a worry that an accident might happen to her and may get lost as she walks. Please respond.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Greetings !

Well you need to consult a Psychiatrist and get a sleep study done on her which shall reveal the crux of the sleep problem and with that the same psychiatrist can start her on a sleep aid drug like ambien ( i.e zolpidem at dose of 5-10 mg half hour before bedtime which can provide her relief from sleep walking a.k.a Somnambulism which occurs in the stage 4 of NREM sleep ( i.e is deep sleep).

So kindly do the needful and get the investigation done and the mentioned drug started and you shall begin to appreciate improvement in her sleep problem with 2-3 weeks.

I hope this helps.

Regards
