What Is The Treatment For Severe Ear Infection?

I had a severe ear infection last winter (blood clot in my ear, on antibiotics for 4 weeks, failed the hearing test but the nerves could still detect the sound waves-I can hear out of the ear now). Since then, I get physically sick whenever the bass is too loud-at the movies, watching tv with the surround sound, music too loud, even loud trucks driving by. I feel nauseous and can feel the beat/reverb pounding in my heart. Is this still a normal side effect to my ear infection? I am a female, 38, 5 9 , 165 lbs.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your history of 4 weeks of treatment which failed to cure your ear problem.
You have mentioned of a blood clot in the ear and now hypersensitivity to the loud sounds.

I would advise you the following.
Repeat the audiometry.
CT/MRI scan to find out the disease, which ma be glomus jugulare and needs surgery.
Wish you all the best.
You need an opinion of an ENT Surgeon, of the one who has experience of such cases.
I find this answer helpful
