What Is The Treatment For Right Ear Infection?

Hello, I have an odd situation on my hands, rather in my ear. My right ear to be more specific. So yesterday I woke up and my ear was clogged. I thought initially it was earwax build up, so I a q-tip. It didn t resolve my dilemma, yet made matters worse. I couldn t hear completely out of my right ear. I assumed then that I may have packed the earwax down into my ear. I finally resorting to the old peroxide remedy. After letting the bubbling tickle my ear in the worst way for a few minute, I drained my ear. Still, it did not unclog itself. Also, I cannot pop my ear via yawning, chewing on gum, and exhaling through my nose with my nostrils and mouth closed. I spent the remainder of the day resting hoping it would clear itself out. Although it s still not unclogged, I can hear a slight bit. The odd thing is, if I put my phone while music is playing directly up to my ear, it miraculously clear up and I can hear just fine out my ear. The moment I remove the sound, my ear quickly clogs back up. Do you have any idea what I am dealing with? Mind you, my hearing is better than yesterday, and I am not experiencing any pain.

You may have pushed the wax deeper into the ear canal and peroxide drops could lead to inflammation.
You could try wax solvents that are available over the counter and put a few drops several times a day for a week. Sometimes this helps to expel the wax but if there is no relief after a week, you may need to go to a doctor to have it manually removed.
Music or any background noise helps hearing in such situations by cutting down the more general ambient noise and augmenting close sounds so it explains what you are experiencing with the phone.

hi

Welcome in HCM.

I understand your concern and most likely your ear was initially clogged due to Eustachian tube dysfunction or fluid in middle ear but you have done two mistakes-

1- By q-tip probably you have perforated your ear drum as you have described in your medical history, the development after use of q-tip are very clear.

2- Use of hydrogen peroxide is another wrong step as it had enter the middle ear through perforation because your increasing trouble is very informative.

Now it will be better to consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination and treatment.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
