Hello,
Redness of injured area is due to tear of blood vessel within the skin and blood spread within the skin, while, bruise is due to muscle fibre and connective tissue contusion following straining. Usually bruises are healed without intervention within 2-4 weeks , but sometimes continuous bleeding may lead to even shock. You should protect the injured area from further new injury, apply ice wrapped in clean cloth, light wrap by soft bandage, raise the area above level of heart. Consult an orthopaedician for physical examination and investigations like x-ray of area, CT- scan. You can take tab. ibuprofen 200mg tds.
Take care, bye.
