Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 9 month-old circumcised son has developed redness/irritation on his penis, in the area where the head of the penis meets the shaft. Should I take him to the pediatrician immediately, or should I just monitor the area for a few days to see if it goes away? He has no fever or other indication of infection. If this were a yeast infection, would there be other signs in addition to this redness? I typically clean this area with baby wipes when I change his diaper--should I switch to warm water in case the wipes are suddenly causing irritation? He has never had diaper rash--should I apply diaper cream to the area? Could this simply be irritation caused by his recent crawling? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your son's problem can be most likely due to yeast infection. Avoid irritants and soaps to wash or clean the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Applying clotrimazole cream locally will be helpful. It is available as over the counter. If no improvement then consult your GP or pediatrician. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
