Hi,
The shoulder joint has a complex arrangement of bones, muscles, tendons,
cartilage .The space in two opposing bones gets reduced in hand raising position. repeated hand raising causes irritation of the tendons -leading to tendenitis/
bursitis. This is the cause of your problem.
It is also known as Impingement syndrome & needs attaintion.
You can try-
-rest to the part, avoid painful movement./Ice pack/ analgesics at home.
- Doctors may suggest Non Steroidal Anti inflammatory Drugs orally/Corticosteroid injection in joint.
- Surgery is last resort for unresponding problem.
Advised to consult Orthopedic Doctor.
Thanks.

General & Family Physician Dr. Nsah Bernard's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Given the location of the pain and the symptom of mild functional impotence of your left shoulder, we are faced with several possibilities of the onset of your problem. The most common causes of shoulder pain (with respect to your age and sport-related) include but not limited to:
- Tendinitis
- Arthritis
- Dislocation/Instability
- Rotator cuff tear
- Bursitis etc.
What you should do now? See a doctor for full medical exams and to do an X-ray of the shoulder with maybe MRI or CT scan. This is to help you exclude all the possibilities and to determine the exact cause. It is important to determine the exact cause so as to provide specific treatment.
Most of the treatment will also include pain management and maybe physical therapy. Your doctor will be able to indicate the right pain killer (which will mostly depend on the degree of pain).

Hope this helps and wish you the best
