What Is The Treatment For Pimples, blackheads And Dandruff, and Is Dandruff Responsible For Everything?

Hi, I m using clean and clear from past 5 years.Still I have blackheads side of the nose, chin and forehead.Pimples which comes frequently and that mark stays forever. From past 1 1/2 months I m using panoxyl (10%benzoyl peroxide) initally it was ok,but after a week my skin started shrinking .I have a dandruff. Is this a reason for everythig?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Acne and dandruff frequently co-exist. Controlling dandruff would bring about better control of acne. Therefore dandruff should be treated simultaneously along with treatment of acne.
10 % benzoyl peroxide is too strong for face; it is actually meant for use on acne affecting back/torso.
I usually ask my patients to use 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel on face, once or twice daily.
I also recommend Topical Retinoids e.g Adapalene gel to my patients, for night time application.
Retinoids are antiinflammatory and comedolytic; therefore prevent new acne/comedones in addition to treating existing ones.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of your acne and advice accordingly.
Your dermatologist might also start you on oral antibiotics e.g either Doxycycline Or Minocycline if your acne is inflammatory i.e red, painful and pus filled.
You may also opt for a few sessions of chemical peeling if your dermatologist suggests you. Salicylic acid chemical peeling is quite good for acne.
