What Is The Treatment For Liver Disease?

Hi, i have a brother that is 30 years old, he was diagnosed with Liver disease, I am not sure exaclty sure of the name of the disease, all i know is that his liver enzymes are elevated and his billirubin is at 19.4 now. He has yellowish skin and eyes, he is going to be seen by another liver specialist in Dallas Tx. his billirubin was at 50.0 when we took him to the hospital the first time, doctors were very concern about his life, i love my brother and i want the best for him, i want to know if his liver is not going to make it, does he need another liver, what is a safe number for billirubin and liver enzymes, because right now he is at home.

Hi there,

These are extremely high liver numbers. A total bilirubin of 50 is extremely high, and I'd be worried that he has failure of the liver, and will likely need a transplant. I'd recommend you speak to his doctor and ask him what exactly his diagnosis is, and if he needs a liver transplant. If he does need a liver transplant, he should be placed on a list immediately.

A total bilirubin of 50 is extremely high and I'd be really worried that he's in liver failure. I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
