What Is The Treatment For Lack Of Smell?
Hi,
My issue is that I pretty much lack a sense of smell unless it's something unusually foul. I have had the surgery for uvula removal/ palate scraping/tonsillectomy and sinuses cauterized because I have sleep apnea. I suffer from a lot of sinus-related infections. Any ideas of what I can do to lessen the symptoms and regain my sense of smell?
The sleep apnea probably won't be resolved since I have already had the surgery; however, the apneas (?) went down from 48 an hour to 20 something (I cannot remember the number). I'm just wondering if there's some sort of procedure to correct the lack of smell. I tend to get a lot of fluid retention, even in my ears, so I'm wondering if something is blocked? Sorry if this is making no sense, I'm trying to remember all the little details. Thanks in advance.

Hello!
Well , most of the times the sense of smell should return by 2-3 months of surgery, if it does not, then it may indicate that the olfactory cleft ( smell region of your nose) may be blocked! you will need to undergo an endoscopy of the nose to confirm this!
meanwhile , you can start nasal irrigation with warm salt water, for the procedure, please meet your ent doctor!
