Hello dear, Thank you for your question. Urinary infections most common symptoms are: burning, urgency to urinate, frequent urination, lower abdominal discomfort, bladder fullness. In your case the gravity of pain can t be explained by a simple urinary tract infection. In my opinion, your urine contains crystals, which passing through the urethra, irritate its mucosa causing the pain. Crystals often coexist with urinary infections but do not get better by antibiotics. That doesn t mean you should interrupt the course of antibiotics. If you really feel you cannot handle the pain you can present to the ER to manage the pain. Hot water baths can improve pain control by alleviating spasms of the urinary tract. An ultrasound will most likely confirm the presence of crystals in your bladder. In some cases though, the crystals are too small to be seen in the ultrasound examination. The next step is to do a urine microscopic examination, that will determine the type of crystals are the cause of your problems. After that your doctor will instruct to modify your diet accordingly and/or take some medication that change the pH of the urine. I always suggest my patients to drink plenty of water.
