my child is 4 year old and her weight is 14kg. she is suffering from high fever past 2days. doctor asked me to give her paracetaml suppository 250mg 4th hourly and also to give her brufen syrup alternatively, is it ok to give her these medicines? waiting for you replay
Hi...you can use both...but make sure that the paracetamol is spaced out at least 4th hourly once and it is oral medication and not a suppository. Brufen can be given at the interval of 8 hours once not less than that.
Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
