What Is The Treatment For Headache?

I hit the top of my head to a door handle 10 days back and after that I got a mild headache in that area and from the next day the pain was in my forehead, around my eyes and cheeks and the pain was mild. my doctor told me it was a left maxillary sinus infection after he saw my forehead radiology image and I started getting antibiotics like 2 days back. now the headache is very mild like a common cold and thats just like a few times a day but what scares me is that at the 8th day after the hitting head I felt needles in my right hand which went away the next day, but again this evening ( 10 days after it) Im feeling needles in my left foot and arm . it really really scares me because I found some really scary results on google. can it be something very serious?

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. It is good that your headache has been diagnosed and you are getting relief in it.

Now coming to your complaints of needle like sensations in foot and arm, first we have to evaluate your history. As you had this complaint twice only which subsided on its own and you are not having increase in headache, it is less likely to be due to head injury.
Usually needle like sensations in extremities occur after stimulation of peripheral nerve. It can be stimulated by

: Pressure like disc compression/direct injury/persistnet prolonged posture
: Some disease like Diabetes Mellitus(DM), B12 deficiency
: Partial nerve injury like cut/compression

Pressure and injury lead to continuous needle like sensations which get relief only after removing or treating actual cause. While disease like DM cause gradual and progressive symptoms. First it lead to episodes of needle like sensations which increase in duration and frequency with time. Then patient develops more symptoms like numbness, focal weakness, loss of sensations.

In your case, if you are having history of DM in your family or in you, you should not ignore it. Get your blood sugar checked and consult neurologist for evaluation. He will examine you to rule out peripheral neuropathy or any disc problem. He may advise test like nerve conduction velocity, MRI of spine, blood investigation like blood sugar, B12 deficiency. Further treatment will be decided after confirming diagnosis.

Hope it will help you. Thanks

Take care.
